Activated Carbon

Activated carbon filtration uses a bed of activated carbon to remove impurities and contaminants from a fluid by chemically adsorbing them. They are most effective at removing chlorine, particulate matter and VOCs, to remove odours and improve taste. Applications range from water purification for drinking in the beverage industry, process water, to air purification and industrial gas processing.

Over time, activated carbon filters can become fouled with suspended solids, organic matter and debris. This kind of fouling deteriorates performance by reducing flow throughput and backwash efficiency.
