Microfiltration / Ultrafiltration

Microfiltration and ultrafiltration are used to separate microorganisms and suspended particles from a process liquid. Both microfiltration and ultrafiltration are commonly used together in conjunction with other treatment processes and reverse osmosis to provide a product liquid free of contaminants. Microfiltration and ultrafiltration work by passing liquid at a moderate rate parallel or tangential to a semi-permeable membrane under moderate pressures. This allows water to pass through the membrane and be removed as permeate, while the contaminants are left on the unfiltered side of the membrane and are disposed of as filtrate.

Over time, organic matter and inorganic matter build up on the fibres of these membranes which can reduce the recovery, performance and flow throughput. Hydro Flow offer;

  • Servicing of microfiltration and ultrafiltration units to monitor performance and ensure the integrity of monitoring equipment
  • Clean-in-place (CIP) of fouled membranes.
