Car Washes

The use of recycled water in commercial car wash facilities is governed by a number of national and state Guidelines, Acts and Regulations.

Best practice management for car wash facilities is to develop a site-specific Risk Management Plan (RMP) to identify the risks that need to be managed, how these risks are controlled, and the proceedures and monitoring activities that will be undertaken to measure the performance of these controls (microbiological sampling, water quality testing, system checks and maintenance).

Legionella bacteria occur naturally in the environment and can multiply in large numbers in artifical water systems from which they can disperse within fine droplets of water known as aerosols.  When inhaled, Legionella pneumophila bacteria can cause Legionnaires' disease - a potentially fatal form of pneumonia.  Car wash facilities generate a large amount of aerosols.

Hydro Flow can assist you by;

  • Developing a detailed Risk Management Plan to ensure appropriate response systems are put in place to minimise bacterial growth.
  • Undertaking routine water sampling and tesing for Legionella, E.coli, heterotrophic bacteria (HCC), pH, turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and other water quality paramaters.
  • Designing and installing filtration systems.
  • Designing and installing automated chemical treatment and disinfection systems.
