The Challenge
The facility draws its process water from a nearby river, which is chlorinated and used throughout the site. However, after periods of heavy rainfall, the river experiences high turbidity due to sediment runoff. This spike in suspended solids renders the water unsuitable for use in the plant, forcing the client to resort to costly water cartage until river conditions stabilise—creating operational disruption, increased costs, and water security concerns.
Our Solution
Hydro Flow designed, supplied, and project-managed the installation of a new river water filtration system consisting of three shallow-bed media filters. These filters use AFM (Activated Filter Media) glass, engineered to provide superior removal of suspended solids and turbidity. The system was designed to operate reliably in fluctuating raw water conditions and to reduce dependency on external water deliveries.
